Where to get 1988 driver side rear brake caliper? (Page 1/1)

Right rear caliper leaking. My former source is not responding. Got all four rebuilt calipers from him a few years ago, but the warranty period is long passed anyway.

NAPA, O'Reilly's, etc. are all coming up straight "NO" or "special order" followed by "not being made".

Talk with Mark. I was impressed with the calipers I got from them.

Notorio,
Mark at calipersonline is who I've not been able to contact recently. Just placed an order - I think - and we'll see what happens.

Gosh, I hope he is ok. My last contact with him was in December.

Notorio,
Mark's fine. The business phone "mailbox" was full or something like that. I'm waiting on a newly rebuilt caliper from him now, having UPS'd my old core to him a few days ago.

I've never gotten a good rebuild. Had the same caliper leak over and over while the other 3 were perfect. Turns out that the rebuilders don't rebuild the piston which is what causes the leaks typically and also keep the ebrake from working and adjusting. The rebuild kits are $5 on rock auto. There's a couple threads on here that show the correct part #. The 88's can be rebuild inside the piston with the 84-87 kit.

I bought two 1988 rebuilt rear calipers in 2019 from the Fiero Store with no issues.

So, they just change the mounting washers, the bleeder screws, the boot and the square cut seal? they'll leave a pitted piston in the caliper? That's seriously messed up. That's kind of crazy if that's what they're doing. I'm going to be refreshing my calipers shortly. I feel better about doing it myself now!

BTW, I'm also in OC. You aren't the Yellow 88 GT that I sometimes see on Euclid, are you? I'm the white 88 Coupe.

Give Mark a call and he can give you the details on what his shop does. Can't speak for any other rebuilt calipers.
