Strut Reinstallation issue (Page 1/2)
ArthurPeale MAY 07, 08:18 PM
Rebuilt my rear struts. I had issues.

Assembly went smoothly - so I thought - but when I went to install I discovered the long bolt on top was off by about twenty degrees. Not sure how that happened, the cushion only installs one way thanks to those alignment nibs, but it did. I had to recompress to realign. That took a while.

Now, when I'm attempting to slide the strut into the frame, the three bolts align okay, but the dish washer is rubbing against the center hole. I can move it out of the way, but then I can't align the three bolts.

What have I done wrong?

I'm pulling out my hair on this one. I've been able to get the long bolt through the hole, and the lefthand bolt partially through (driver's side) but the right side bolt won't align, no matter what.

they're not bent. I have no idea what is happening.

I had something like this the 3rd stud was a bit loose i took a screwdriver and popped it over to align.

So, there ARE a left and a right? That would explain it.

Why are you installing the top hats upside down?

The sticky-up part doesn't go up? It protrudes down ?

That might explain everything.

Oh, Gd bless it. I went back through the footage here

and....yeah. I'm installing them upside down.

The problem is that so much time has elapsed that I forgot.

Thank you, Patrick.
