Rear breaks 84. Rotor wont fit (Page 1/2) |

My son and I are trying to get his 84 back on the road and the rear breaks are stumping us. We ordered new rotors, calipers and pads for all 4 wheels. The front went on without an issue. We compressed the rear cylinders with the socket c clamp method after removing the e break bracket. Then we installed the pads with the clips. There is not enough clearance for the rotor to fit between the pads. We then bought a break piston compression tool but can not move the calendar back any further.
Any help would be very much appreciated as we have been stuck for 2 weeks.!
These are the parts we are using. I believe they are all correct.
Thanks!

Doesn't look compressed enough. Remove ebrake lever turn screw 1/4 while compressing see if that helps?

Pistons height after compressing should be < 5mm See my Cave, Rear Brakes & Clamp Method notes
You are missing the clip holding inner pad to the piston. use search. Oops... You have wire type clips doing this and just didn't see them. Other type is Stamped SS and very easy to see.
⚠️ New Rotors need cleaning to remove "oil" stopping rust in inventory for months to years.
Note: Some rotors need "turning" before install. Sold to Auto Shops that have a Brake Lath. Check your PN on box of part for what sent. If you have these, the rotors are thicker then spec and often won't fit until been turned.

Can't read technical details on their site? Normal Thickness 12.5mm or just under 0.5 inch. (0.4921259842519685)
If has "non directional" surface is likely right rotor.[This message has been edited by theogre (edited 05-18-2021).]
