I recently bought a Fiero rear spoiler off Craigslist and not sure what model its from. I know the spoilers are the same, but something is different with the studs and/or how they mount. I read the archives and I can't make sense of it. Can somebody explain the differences in simple terms? Thanks

There is different front to rear spacing on the studs on some wing stands. I don't know if it was by year or by fastback vs notchback.

So its not the length of the studs that is different, but the distance between the front and rear studs are different, correct?

They have different mounting points. In the photo, the 2 studs are for a GT decklid. For a non-GT you remove the rear stud and move it to the location with the arrow.

Ah ha, got it, thanks! So if I wanted to install my spoiler farther back than the stock placement would be on a GT, then I might be able to utilize the non-GT rear stud so I don't run into the rear of the decklid.

You need to carefully calculate where the studs will come through on the inside of the decklid. On the GT lid, there are specific places that are up inside one of the reinforcement ribs. Just be sure that wherever you place it, that it doesn't come through on the trunk seal gasket. I've seen one that did that and it leaked.

Follow up question...
Are the deck lid tension rods different for wing vs non-wing equipped models?
So will my wingless GT deck lid not stay up if I add wing?[This message has been edited by Skybax (edited 06-15-2021).]
