NSS Replacement Gone Wrong? (Page 1/1)

I replaced my starter and neutral safety switch in my 1984 Pontiac Fiero that I just bought. It’s an automatic and I can’t seem to figure out what the problem is. It would start up in between the park and reverse gear, however, the car won’t even crank anymore and I’m assuming I unknowing bumped something the wrong way. I had the battery disconnected along with the car in neutral while replacing it. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what my problem might be or how to fix it? Will I have to drop my transmission? Thanks!

Read up on indexing the neutral safety switch. You need to follow a procedure to set its position so that the engine can start.

Hallie_Keeney, how 'bout joining the Georgia Fiero Club Saturday morning, 9:30 at the Marietta Diner, 306 Cobb Parkway South? One of our members just went through the switch replacement procedure.
