Small Preformed Hoses on T-stat Housing -- Where can I get new ones? (Page 1/2)
eti engineer JUN 11, 07:30 PM

Does anyone have a part number and/or source for the two preformed hoses coming of the T-stat housing on the '88 v-6 engine (pictured here)? I finally got my engine rebuilt on the the third try (DON'T EVER USE ACCURATE ENGINES IN MICHIGAN FOR ANYTHING!!! I had to go through the Michigan BBB to get my money back. The BBB there is fantastic. They don't take any time and don't pull any punches!!!) and I am in the process of reassembling it and would like to replace these two and can't seem to find them.

In the other photo, the rebuild is coming along nicely. Just taking my time.

This is confusing ... my 88GT didn't have those hoses, at least what I can see from this picture. Currently the beast is apart. The thermostat neck has the large-hose connection (which you can see in the picture) and a small hose connection right below that (that you can't see.) However, this appears to be different than what you are showing. Is this a difference for an A/C car maybe? I have A/C and a 5 spd. Curious

Those are the throttle body heater tubes. Its popular in warmer climates to delete them.

Yep, I've removed 'em on both my '86 GT and '88 Formula. Cleans up the engine and makes access to the distributor a whole lot easier.

The part numbers are 10038780 and 10038781. I don't know where to source them but unless the bend is really sharp (or the hose diameter is too small)., I'd get some bulk heater hose and make them up myself. FYI, they are the feed and return for the manifold heating system.

Ummm... I wouldn't say they actually feed/heat the manifold at all.

Ah hah! And now I remember deleting them when I put that back together ...

I'll agree and say us California folks don't really need help with ANY type of heating at any time of year. Just delete the tubes.

Technically, you're right, it doesn't directly feed the manifold. It feeds the water block on the throttle body. So says the P22 manual. Whether or not there are actually passages within the plenum that get water feed from that system is unknown to me since I haven't taken an L44 apart in over 20 years.

Thanks for the comebacks from all of you. I will just delete them. I don't need them in CA, and I don't need anything that might create another potential leak.
