Fuel sending unit (Page 1/1)

I got a Fiero Store fuel sending unit and was wondering about a couple of things.
I haven`t worked on any sending units so this may be the norm.
I am putting an aftermarket fuel pump for my 3800 swap and it has a rubber piece that goes on the bottom
of the pump thats about 2" tall.
That fits fine and the pump fits into the assembly fine.
Am I to assume that the only thing that holds that pump in is the rubber hose on top that is pressing down
onto the fuel pump.
I realize that it can`t really move because of the nipple at the bottom that the sock connects to but I would like to see
it mounted a bit more rigid.
Also, that sock just has a metal cup with two little dimples that help hold the sock onto that nipple.
Again not very secure in my opinion.
You`re screwed if that sock falls off because of vibration.
I guess unless that sock sits on the bottom of the gas tank.

I used a late 0's trans Am pump with higher volume to feed my N* motor and held the pump in place with a couple of stainless hose clamps. Also make sure you buy the submersible fuel line, expense as hell but research the topic to see what happens to regular fuel line. You may have to adjust the flat tab welded to the stainless line to orient your sending unit correctly. Mine on 88 tank hit the baffle and would not read below 65% capacity even with the tank empty. Search the forum as I posted some pictures.
