Started engine today to get it warm to change the oil. Heard a loud rattle or clanking sound coming from the engine compartment . Started probing with my home made noise finding tool ( a hose with a funnel duct taped to the listening end) but didn't hear any unusual noises while probing around the engine. Finally started listing to the exhaust and sure enough heard a bit of rattle there. Sounded like it was coming from the driver side exhaust end trumpets . I stuck a broomstick into the exhaust pipes within the trumpets an pried up just a bit. Sure enough the clanking noise stopped. On further examination the pipes were rattling within the cone. Tack welded them back in place and all is now quiet. Lesson here; if you have "engine noise" be sure to also check your exhaust. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite.
