Computer Short (Page 1/1)

I took my 86’ GT to my mechanic friend and he said he can’t find a signal between the computer and the fuel pump. He told me I might need a new computer, pump, sending unit, and wiring harness. The car will run, but once you try to drive it, the pump fuse will pop. The fuel gage isn’t working either. How often do the computers short internally? Where can I find the harness for that comes from the computer to the pump, or even the whole engine harness? I don’t expect to find a new one, but I do need one as I’m missing connectors. Thank you in advance.

You've had the gas tank out, right? I suspect you've got a short (maybe a pinched wire or two?) in the wiring harness that goes to the tank.
