Stovks air cleanrt (Page 1/1)

Fellas,
I have an Isuzu 5 speed transmission mounted to an all stock V6. When I connect my stock Duke air-cleaner ‘box’ to the V6 intake manifold, that Duke air-cleaner assembly does NOT (want) to clear my Isuzu shifter arms???
Question: Did Pontiac make two separate air-cleaner assemblies?; One manufactured for the Isuzu Duke package and (possibly) the other one manufactured for the V6 Getrag?
If so, then I have to purchase, or modify, my stock Duke air-cleaner assembly so that my 5 speed Isuzu shifter arms are not overly bent around that Duke air-cleaner housing? Presently, it is difficult to shift🧐.
Any help would be appreciated.

No, not really... seeing as how the duke air filter canister sits on top of the engine whereas the V6 air filter canister is off to the side of the engine bay.

How about posting a picture of what you've currently got hooked up.

So it looks something like this?

No, my air-cleaner set up is all stock. Nevertheless, I still think I need to simplify my dilemma.
(A.) Pontiac (GM) never produced the V6 with the Isuzu 5 speed.
(B.) I have my V6 connected to my Isuzu
(C.) My car runs 👍 great!
(D.) Unfortunately, my shifter cables interfere with my stock air-cleaner assembly.
(E.) I cannot hook up my old stock 2.5 Duke air-cleaner to my current V6 power train? I can, BUT now my shifter cables have to irregularly bent, bowed and arched so much so that as I shift gears, my Fiero is shifting very clunky and heavy handed!
Therefore, I am asking the question again to all the knowledge Fiero owners: Have other owners have this particular problem?
I am hoping there is a good recommendation🤔
Cordially,
kevin

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Correct if I'm wrong, but I don't think Isuzu transmissions were not found on V6 so would explain why the cables won't clear (as the intake tube from the 4cyl and V6 are different. That being said, as a person with a isuzu/v6 combo currently, you can slightly twist the the V6 tube downward and route the shift cables on top. It's a little tight, but works fine.
