POR15 Fuel Tank repair effort - A BUST (Page 1/1)

So I followed the directions as best I could but likely goofed somewhere in the process. In the end I see areas where there's excess/clumping of the sealant. Then some areas look smoothly covered while other areas look abrasive. The gap between the plastic baffle and the metal tank filled w/sealant, and there's sealant on the plastic baffle. I called POR15 for advice they say the clumping is no good and will eventually fail. They also say the sealant may not stay adhered to the plastic and it too may peel off.

I asked if there's a way to remove the sealant and start over. They said a urethane-based paint remover would remove the sealant but that it may damage the plastic baffle.

Not sure what to do next. Suggestions welcome.

Is there a way to open the tank (split it open along the seam?), clean it/seal it properly, then put it back together?
