Anyone have info on the new L3T 1.3l 3cyl for a possible swap? I just bought a new Buick Encore GX with this motor. In a 3000+ pound suv, this engine moves the Buick pretty well, and the Encore GX gets about 3 mpg better than the smaller Encore. Although I couldn't verify it, I am guessing that the engine only weighs a bit over 200 pounds. What are your thoughts?

I have always been interested in a hyper-milage commuter Fiero. I don't know much about the SUV, but my guess is that they have the gear ratios spot on. Is it a 6, 8 speed auto or a CVT transmission?

Yes, it is a CVT. It surprised me when I looked under the hood. The engine/transmission package was ridiculously small. Even more surprising when you consider that the Encore GX is not a slug at all. I'm pretty sure it would do 0 to 60 noticably quicker than my 87GT.
