1988 Iron Duke Blown Motor (Page 1/1)

I think I may have a cracked block, there is water in the oil and things are looking bleak. So, I want to keep this car, I am not giving up on it. What iron dukes swap into this? Or anything easy, I just want to bolt in another motor. I am not looking for more power, and I am not looking for the additional work of swapping the 3 speed auto my car came with along with creating some custom axle. I guess I am willing to rebuild a motor, I changed the head gasket and this problem still persisted, which makes me think it is the head or the block. Anyone have a good iron duke from an 88 they swapped that they are willing to part with? Or is there another motor that I can find cheap that bolts directly on? I am not against some simple wiring but not super eager either.

coolant in oil can be several things. Some are easier to fix but most need to take head/engine apart to see.
Note: Some early Dukes Engine had weak head bolts so All head bolts are throwaway parts.
Possible #4 is sucking coolant on intake side because of bad intake or gasket. Pull spark plugs, keep them in order, and look. #4 is cleaner then others then sucking coolant. Need blue felpro gasket make to block this happening again. Do Not use others.

Pre 87 engines won't work w/o a lot of changes.

87 in drop in and w/o oil filter and balancer in the pan that causes many problems.

later VIN R, 89-92, engines have more changes and may need to play w/ wiring or ignore/bypass some things. The 87-88 fiero intake manifold may not fit later versions. Why Later needs Buy Complete engines not Crate or long blocks.
