VSS Gear color for a 100% stock 1986 4s Manual?
All of the resources I have found are either not for my year model or the websites are offline.
Does anyone know which color?
This is a pic of my parts identification sticker

I found this thread but can anyone confirm its GM PN 25519846?

According to this thread that would be the white gear.
http://www.automotiveforums...r_plastic_gear_.html
29 teeth Red gear GM part number 10041031
30 teeth Purple gear 10041032
30 teeth Blue gear 25519845
31 teeth white gear 25519846

It goes with the tire size:

Does your car have no VSS gear at all, or does it have a working speedo, but the reading is off and you wish to correct it?

Thanks for your reply pmbrunelle. No gear at all. Sensor works though. I put a drill on it so the spedo and sensor work.

That thread says
"M17 Muncie 4-speed transmissions will have a NATURAL (tan) 35 tooth drive gear.
The smaller VSS speedo gear will be:
RED 29 tooth - tires sizes P185/80R13, P185/75R14, P195/70R14, P215/60R15
PURPLE 30 tooth - tires sizes P215/60R14"

So...still confused. Tires are P215/60R15 so is that a natural 35 tooth gear or the red 29 tooth gear? Dunno if my VSS is the smaller one or the other one. It is mounted with one bolt.

The natural tan 35T gear is clipped onto the differential.

Here's an arrow showing the tan gear on my only photo (which happens to be potato-quality) of a Fiero diff:

The teeth of that natural tan 35T gear mesh with (and therefore spin) the teeth of the small colour-coded gear on the VSS.

The natural tan 35T gear is supposed to be the same for all Muncies (and maybe the other Fiero transmissions). You only change the small colour-coded gear on the VSS to adjust for tire size.

I would think that there might be some variation in the gear in the 86, depending upon whether it was an SE with 14 inch wheels or a GT with 15 inch wheels.

I think it is the red one.
RED 29 tooth - tires sizes P185/80R13, P185/75R14, P195/70R14, P215/60R15

It is a gt with the 15 inch rims.

I can confirm it is indeed the red one.
