turn your heater control head to MAX.
If the fan comes on, then we know your fan an relay are okay.

Year and engine? Do you have A/C?

With key ON, ground the wire from the fan switch on the engine.
If cooling fan comes on, the switch is bad.

You can also turn on your AC. The fan will come on and stop your overheating. It'll get you home.

See my Cave, Rad Fan

1. Engine running at 220°, even 230°F Is Not Over Heating.
2. Dash Gauges often Lie for many reasons. More so one cars 20 30 or more years old.

"Air locking" and "Burping" Fiero is a myth. Fiero and others will "burp" themselves when you fill the system right.
See my Cave, Coolant Fill

Real "Over Heating" can be many things and rad fan (and 85-87 V6 engine blower) may never turn on. Dash Temp gauge may not get hot either.
Example: F'd head gasket often will allow cylinder pressure to coolant and oil holes cause Fake "over heat" even "boiling over" and/or force oil in PCV parts.
