I saw a post from a few years ago about a member that recovers steering wheels. IRRATIONAL was the user name. Is he still doing recovers?
Thanks

RW Upholstery does them also. I bought his interior kit and it was nice.

Russ does them. Here is his website. He also makes a TON of other awesome things.

Yes Alex still does wheels. Beautiful work. I have 4 of his wheels. Just search for his posts or he is on Facebook as well.

The average cost of recovering a stock Fiero steering wheel is around $200 + shipping. I know those guys do great work but you can purchase a brand new quality dark wood or covered three spoke wheel on eBay for $125. I'd have to give some serious thought about having my wheel recovered but I am leaning towards buying a new steering wheel.

I appreciate the response. I've decided to get my wheel redone in red leather from Russ of RW. I've looked all over the internet at wheels and hub adapters. This is for an 85 rebodied as a 308 GTB. Mr. Mikes and Russ did the interior but the wheel is grey. I was looking at Momo and the classic wood Nardi. No offense, but I wanted to put a hi-end steering wheel in my car because I've spent some TALL dollars on it. I used to have a Nardi I bought new in 73 for $275.00. I put it on many cars over the years. I had a special attachment to it. In 75 I got in an accident and my teeth marks made a BIG impression at the 1 o'clock position. About 10 years ago I had it on a 1980 500 Mercedes SLC AMG. With what the guy paid me for the car I had to leave it on. I'd like to buy the wheel back but it went to Beijing. Thanks again.

I saw there were some DIY leather recovery kits on ebay for like $20. I haven't yet picked one up but it might be worth a try to see if that's good enough for you. They look fairly nice and are available in Fiero colors. It looked like it would take about an hour to do. The only drawback I saw was it would only recover the outer rim and not go into the spokes llke the factory GT wheels. I was thinking I would leave the leather material on the spokes and just have the spoke leather tuck under the new leather DIY kit that covered the rim...it would have a line/seam where the spokes jointed the rim but thought it would be still look fairly nice. I think for a Formula or SE type wheel it would look pretty close to stock leather to use just the DIY kit.

Thanks for the reply. Russ of RW was out of red leather and I connected with Alex Babineau. I've sent my steering wheel and shift knob to him for recover. Heard good things about his work. Russ does great work, he and Mr. Mikes did my interior, looks GREAT!
