Has anyone ever rebuilt the a/c pump? I'd like to try if anyone has some tips. One guy I know his answer for everything is buy a crate motor. I have the 1984 2.5L engine. Thanks.

You need special tools just to remove and install the compressor clutch alone. Then more special tools tools to do same for main shaft seal etc. Not common even at many AC shops now so unlikely can't rent or find in "loaner tools" program at AZ & others.
If a compressor needs rebuilding then the clutch likely have problems too and buying a clutch alone often cost a lot. Many times 1/2 or up the cost of new and rebuild compressor w/ a clutch.
