Oil dipstick tube location. (Page 1/1)

Hi all, pulled the heads on th 2.8 a year ago but I can't find the hole where the tube slides in somewhere on the block. You know, the tube the dipstick slides in. Not sure if I need to install it before I put heads back on. Thanks, Bill

The oil tube bolts on to the front engine lifting bracket; your call if you want to install it before or after the heads.
Here's where the tube enters the block near the oil filter -

I see Rexgirl has already shown you the location. I just rebuilt the whole engine, cradle, rear suspension, exhaust, etc. on my car. It is still on the jack stands so I went out to take some shots of it for you, but the heat shields are in the way. there is a bracket part way up the dipstick tube that if you locate the threaded hole in the block for it, it will almost guide you to the spot on the block when the dipstick goes. For what it's worth, here's a couple of shots to help with the routing and path the dipstick takes with the heat shields, too.

Gee, I didn't know there was supposed to be a heat shield there ...

I just realized that's a good photo to show where the oil pressure sensor is on a non-A/C 2.8 Fiero.

Thanks all, I found the dipstick hole. Is there supposed to be an o ring on bottom of the tube? there is not one on mine.

By the way, the heat shield in my 1985 2.8 doesn't look like the one in the pics.
