Decklid torsion springs and manifolds needed for 86 GT (Page 1/1) riv187 NOV 02, 10:18 AM Hi, Just got a 86 GT last week and has cracked manifolds and broken torsion spring. Springs are for wing,no luggage rack.I see a little white paint on end. I've sent messages to supporters, but haven't heard back yet. Anyone help????? skywurz NOV 02, 11:17 AM I would buy Rodney's gas struts and pull the springs. I have only installed springs with the engine out... It was a nightmare. IDK how it would go with the engine in the way.. riv187 NOV 02, 12:56 PM I have seen the rods,,,it's a option,,,but really would like the torsion springs again. A friend has told me to drop the cradle and motor to get at the manifolds any how, so maybe pefect time to do the rods. Spadesluck NOV 02, 01:51 PM Those torsion rods scare the heck out of me just removing them. They are under so much load and tension. Patrick NOV 02, 03:13 PM With the decklid and the tension adjustment pins removed, I didn't find it to be difficult at all to replace the torsion rods.
