Anyone done headlights like this? (Page 1/1)

I really like the look of most pop up headlights, and the fact that the Fiero has them, but these specific ones aren't quite my taste. Looking through old threads, I'm mostly finding people outright removing the pop up factor. I would much rather keep the pop up function, but with a different profile when deployed. Just trying to see if anyone has done or seen pop ups like this on a Fiero.

Here is an animation i threw together of the stock fiero pop ups, vs. what i have in my head.

I have seen modifications of where they changed the lights and made it where the covers only pop up about half of what is normal.
It has been done before, but you will have to search for it.

I did Tonys mod on my headlights, it's not too hard and the end result looks much better to me.

Another option is Danyels low profile headlight buckets.

Hmm, slim pop ups do look much better than stock. My idea was aiming for a sleeker profile when the headlights are up, but that would take a lot more work than just shorter pop ups like Tony's there. Thanks guys

Animation look similar to Corvette and few others w/ Flip Over HL.
They can eat more space under the hood then Fiero Pop Ups.

Other mods for lower pop ups often cut out bearing points where the buckets hit the door. That can causes wear problems and wreck the door bottom, cause motor problems because that thinks door is jammed, etc.
Can be done right but few to no-one bothers trying. Many do the mod then sold/junk the the car. Other got lucky or don't drive enough in bad weather or at night to have major problems. Worse now in many state's laws requiring Wipers On for just about any reason Then HL On Too. (Don't need HL On just to clean the glass...)

OE setup...

Main bearing in red.
Think the Bearing Strips are Polypropylene. Is flexible softer and also act as bumper to absorb hit from the bucket tips. Can wear out but very few does in 25+ years...

2 other spot in blue boxes are on HL trim may hit the door but only when door is near or fully open and doesn't have the load as the main door bearings.
Turn on HL to open them, turn off HL only and look. 1 both or none of those points touches the door.
