Sudden electrical issues after sitting (Page 1/1)

Recently I tried to start my 84 after some part of the clutch went out, its been about 3 weeks and I just wanted to get the gas running again.
Went to turn it on and completely dead. Charged it up a bit and the fuel pump is continually running, with or without the key in the ignition. Also now the starter doesn't turn over either with the key, even in neutral with the clutch pushed in it doesn't make even a sound.
Any ideas? Very confused.

What is your battery voltage? When you move the key to the "START" position, does the voltmeter in the car drop below 9 volts? A good battery will maintain at least 9 volts on starting the vehicle. Let us know these details and then we can try to take it from there... Good luck!!!

When it was dead, there was no volts at all. After I charged it though it got up to 11 where it should be, then quickly drained. I charged it again then took out the fuel pump fuse to make sure it doesn't burn out.

Take your battery out, charge it and get it tested. I suspect it will fail a "load test".

A charged battery "should be" 12.6 volts.
