Hi Tech Wheel Offset, What do I have???? Different Front and Rear (Page 1/2)
Brivander NOV 30, 09:02 PM
Hey Guys,
What exactly do I have on this thing????

These are the wheels that are on the back of the car, I believe these to be incorrect, any guidance? and what they might be from???

It appears from what I can find here these are the correct offset with the extra "lip" and these are on the front of the car.....

Insight appreciated!!!

The only Fiero that has different wheel offset from front and rear is the 88 so I'd say someone swapped 88 wheels on the car?

I agree. The more I look at it l think the rear wheels on the car may be from a Pontiac Sunbird, 45mm offset vs. the Fiero 35mm offset.

I guess I'll plan to put the Fiero wheels on the back since they widen the track width.

I'm not buying new wheels, so I suppose that is the plan unless someone thinks it's a terrible idea.

Pontiac Sunbird Wheel.

They may all be Fiero wheels... if as already pointed out, they're from an '88.

Sounds like a good idea. When you remove the wheels, there should be text markings cast around the back of the spokes with the width and offset information... it can be good to confirm the specs of what you have.

While not necessarily stock for 84-87, staggered wheels were considered one of the improvements that were introduced in the 88s.

Might as well incorporate an 88 improvement to an early Fiero.

Could totally be, but the only thing I've been able to find is the 1988 14" wheel is also a 35mm offset. I guess it doesn't matter a whole ton, but I guess I'm glad I looked.

I'm going to go out on a limb here....and probably be wrong but I tried to blow up your image in the other thread and I don't see the Pontiac wording on any wheels on that side of the car. Do all the wheels say Pontiac on the face?

Yes, they all do.

14" wheels came on the base model '88. The offset wheels we're referring to are 15" and came on the '88 GT and Formula.

I can't find the thread right now, but there was recent discussion of stock 88 Fieros with staggered 14" Hi-Tech wheels. Some PFFers showed us their supposedly stock 88s, and they had 14" staggered wheels.

The introduction of Sunbird wheels towards the end of Fiero production (a running change) would have helped stretch low stock of the Fiero-specific Hi-Tech wheels. This would have avoided the risk of ordering a batch of Fiero-specific Hi-Tech wheels near the end of Fiero production, and then not having any Fieros on which to install said wheels.
