alternative windshield washer nozzles (Page 1/2)

Has anyone found windshield washer nozzles that work on the fiero. I made the mistake of blowing mine out with compressed air and now they just dribble. I looked for new ones to no avail. I purchased used ones but they are the same.

That sounds a little weird. Are you sure the pump is not at fault? You should be able to clear the nozzle with reverse air flow.

I didn't reverse the air flow. I have tried two different pumps.

Once you force crap into nozzle openings, often very hard to remove by back flow of air.
In very short, crap and hole shape can act as fishing hooks so crap doesn't remove easy.

If you have a "waterpik" or other things can focus water force into small space and spray output side, may help more.
Anything hard you push into nozzles often do more damage even if removing the plug.

Don't use strong solvents to clean or "soak" them. That can easily made worse problems.

Yup, Getting used nozzles often have same problems.

As to getting new nozzles...

Likely find many hood mounted types and mod the old or make a new standoffs to work w/ them.

Could use those as is on the hood but ugly and big headache to plumb them.

Also Many Fieros are missing the check valve and new plumbing likely needs them more.

GM used some nozzles that clipped to the wiper arms.

I thought about upgrading my Fiero with them, but never got to it.

The 92-97 Caddy Sevilles used this setup.

You may be able to unclog those nozzles using a piece of stiff wire.
jdv DEC 16, 06:16 PM
They are no longer clogged after I blew the compressed air through them. They just dribble like the whole is to big. I put in a new pump then ordered the used nozzles. Same out come so I picked up another pump same thing barely squirt past the wipers. The pumps are trico 11-510. Thanks olejoedad for the info about the cadddy

Amen to that! Especially since the Frunk is hinged at the front, the nozzles would have to be at the back to spray the windshield and the windshield washer pump and reservoir are mounted close to the windshield on the left side. The piping losses would probably be so high that all you get out of the nozzles would be a dribble.

This has worked for me in the past when cleaning out windshield cleaner nozzles on a TR6. It may work for you. Find a twist tie from a loaf of bread or similar. Strip the plastic off leaving only the wire. Use the wire to loosen / force the gunk out. Used compressed air from the windshield side to completed the process. The wire is soft enough to bend around any bends within the nozzle. It's also rigid enough to "push" out gunk.

If this doesn't work, find a wrecked Fiero and scavenge the nylon nozzles. They are another part that is un available now so maybe we should all be pulling these off of the wrecked cars.

Did you check the supply piping to the nozzle? It could be blocked, cracked or clogged.
