84 Auto to an isuzu 5-speed manual swap snag (Page 1/1)

Hi guys, ran into a snag during the rewire of my 84 harness to make it work the 86 manual trans with the reverse lights input. Which connector on the automatic was for the reverse lights, was it the two pin running off the large flat connector or was it some where else?

Reverse lights are the light green wire and the blue wire on the Neutral Safety Switch - which is mounted to the auto transmission selector shaft.

Hope you're swapping out the ECM, too.

Ok, makes more sense than what I was thinking. Thank you.

I wasn’t planning on swapping the ECU, I read the automatics ECU could work on the manual, but not vice versa. I have the manuals ECU as well though, just in case.

It should run it okay, but it won't be optimal. There may also be some minor wiring differences between the two, other than the obvious.
(On the V6 cars, the TCC wiring is re-purposed for other things. I'm thinking the "upshift" light, but I could be wrong. The idle speed will also likely be different. All minor stuff.)

My main concern was the cruise control and power locks, the donor 86 didn’t have either. Guess I’m gonna plug and play and see what happens. I’m not concerned about the shift light at all, but I hadn’t thought of the idle or throttle response, now I’m very curious.
