Does anyone know where I can get the shims shwon in rodney dickmans shifter rebuild kit seperately? It looks like the rebuild has already been done, but there is some forward to back movement.

If there's a steel sleeve inside there, you could just file it shorter.

Im trying to close the gap that is there, what you suggest would make it bigger i think.

If that shifter is the way I think it is (speculation, I have never taken apart a Getrag-style shifter, only Isuzu and Muncie), there's a sleeve hidden inside that surrounds the bolt.

When the bolt is tightened, the ears on either side of the shift lever are drawn together, until they make contact with the hidden sleeve.

By shortening the length of the hidden sleeve, you reduce the distance between the ears, and therefore the play.

The OEM GM inserts are plastic and last forever. The ones shown look like brass. The round shims look like brass too.The fit in the pix looks good to me.I should think any "slop" here would hardly be felt in driving.
