I have an '88 GT and every time I start the car the windshield wipers swipe and stop. They function normally otherwise. Has anybody had this experience and can you suggest what the problem may be? Board?

It's exactly what you called it, ghost wiper. One of our members used to sell a kit to fix it but he is out of them. If you're good with soldering, you simply need a capacitor and diode. One side goes to ground and the other taps into the grey wire of the harness.
