97 GT Deck Grill misalinged tabs (Page 1/1)

(Sorry about the 97 GT. Once posted, that cannot be changed by me.)

On my 87GT, on both sides, the mounting bracket is out of position while everything else lines up.
They dont look bent or altered. The ( the brackets) , look stock.

I was about to go caveman and bend them up, then decided to ask have yall seen this before ?

There should be one of the oval shaped reinforcement pieces under the bracket.

As oloejoedad says, there is supposed to be another one of those oval washer-like tabs underneath your bracket. There are 2 more surrounding the top of your strut tower. You can see one of them in the side of the picture you provided

Do you have the 2 tabs on the window end of the grill in the slots under the window?

I do have those tabs.
The grill can only fit one way, or the deck will not close

When we look at your picture it looks like the grill bracket is not being properly supported, The top part of the bracket when the grill tab sits must be level. As pointed out That is why the oval washers underneath are critical.
