Trunk lid (Page 1/1)

What should be on the trunk lid close to the rear window to keep water from pouring all over the engine when the trunk is opened? It looks like something should be there, there are clips to hold it there.

There is a large rubber flap. Ill try to snap a pick for you this afternoon.

The deck lid weatherstrip was designed by GM to keep water off the front manifold. When the recall was done GM strangely had the dealers remove and discard them. Rainwater then fell on the hot tubing manifold causing cracking. This is very common on the V6 but I can't see it helping the Duke exhaust manifold any.
When it rains and you open the deck lid its like a waterfall back there. I had an original weatherstrip in the shop and clipped it in place. They are hard to find as most of them were thrown in the garbage but there is a solution. Measure up, then check out garage door weatherstrips. I am doing that right now for another Fiero without that weatherstrip.
Just for reference I have been running my 3800SC Fiero for over 10 years with the deck lid weatherstrip in place and there have been no ill effects.

Is Nothing to keep that from happening even w/ OE rubber edge on front that GM often remove during Recall work.

OE rubber piece only block leaves etc falling/blowing into engine bay when lid is Closed.

Someone made a piece that turn into a gutter to block water etc hits exhaust pipes when open but some have problems with that too. Can be Hard to clean when have pine needles and other smallish things get trapped in the "rubber."

The absolute best replacement... actually an improvement on the recall weatherstrip, was discussed Here.
