Hello everyone
I got a 88 GT imported from Netherlands 2 weeks ago, I live in France and the administration is really strict with 1/ imported car 2/ collection/classic.
I have to take pictures of many things including the engine identification number to prove that it's a real 2.8L Fiero Engine.
Unfortunately, my low IQ and me can't find this number. I have looked at tons of website but I could not find my answer.
Can someone explain to me what should I do to find this number ? I would highly appreciate a picture/plan of the engine with a red arrow because mechanical parts name in English/French tends to not match so it can be misleading.
Thank you everyone.

There may be a partial VIN on the engine in the area by the starter, on the mounting flange for the transmission.

I'm really sorry but could you upload a picture/plan of the engine with an indication because I'm really bad in mechanic and since that my engine is dirty as hell, I'm lost

Thank you very much ! I'm going to check that.
Unfortunately, I don't have any papers, the official story of my Fiero start with me.

In addition to image, technically speaking it is located on the vertical flange where the engine attaches to the transmission, facing the front of the car.[This message has been edited by Skybax (edited 02-14-2022).]

That's a photo of the casting number, showing what years/makes/models that block was intended for, and showing its a GM 2.8 engine, that might be all that's needed...
Casting # 14091820 was for: Make: GM - PONTIAC Year: 1985 - 1987 Liters: 2.8L Cubic Inch: 173 VIN Code: 9 Engine Type: V6-OHV, CHEV, MID-ENG
I think LeoLeChat needs the VIN stamping off the engine, when the engine was installed on the assembly line, to show it matches dashboard VIN. (but I could be wrong) It's located on the vertical flange where the engine attaches to the transmission, facing the front of the car.
