Does anyone know if you can buy a new water pump and pulley for an 88 tech4? (Page 1/1)

My pump and pulley went bad on my 88 2.5 tech4
I cannot find where to buy one, if someone knows where to get one new I would sure appreciate that.
Thanks Pat

Those water pumps have been unavailable for quite some time. Rock Auto shows one for the 88 but the tech IV engine was widely used and one from another application may work. Check out the unit for an 88 S-10 blazer with the 2.5L engine. Rock Auto shows them for this application

I may give him a call, I did not find anything listed on his site but I may not have worded it correctly when I searched his site.
I know they are out there somewhere, I hope someone is stripping down an engine or has one sitting around somewhere!
Thanks Pat

Used WP is nearly always bad. Might get one that works only to fail very soon.

RA shows many WP for this. Others likely do to.
Most are sold w/o a pulley. You need right tool to pull/push the pulley or very easy bend the pulley.
Like AZ duralast bwp-623

Ones w/ a pulley kit mounts w/ 4 bolts, If they work, may cause clearance problems.
These setups might work on FWD but in Fiero the battery tray and frame is very close to OE press pulley and hub. Most so if has motor mount problems because iffy mounts let engine to move sideways even more.

CARDONE 58441, GMB 1301051 pulley likely only fits FWD cars.

Note: "Cheap" P-Streering pulley press tool kits sold by HF etc may not work. Will fit but tool is "weak" and break pulling the pulley. Expect cheap units may one last 1 time. Even "Pro grade" tools can have a hard time pulling them.

Try calling Summit Racing- they show a number of water pumps for an 88 4 cylinder......Including two AC/Delco pumps. I suspect that the Tech IV pump is the small casting- just the impeller and the housing for the bearing. But the pics are not always relevant. Better to call and make sure. 800-230-3030

Thank you for the great advice.
I will call those places to verify the part.
I searched jegs, summit, Rodney, auto parts stores but I will call a couple if the places and double check.
What a bummer!
Thanks again.

If you find a PN please post it. I have an 88 in my 87. Its only 20k miles on a rebuild but it was rebuilt 12 years ago...

I sure will.
I checked both part numbers that the ogre suggested and they are for the ones I have been finding with the v belt or the 3 tread belt.
I am going to try the fiero factory and dinero farm.
The part number on the original pulley is this one.
