Are Gauge Clusters Interchangeable? (Page 1/2)

I am looking to replace the gauge cluster on my 88 Base. Do I have to worry about compatibility or are they all interchangeable? If not interchangeable, what should I look for?

To the best of my knowledge, there are two part numbers for the printed flexible circuitry on the back of the instrument panel.

As long as the part number on the flex circuit is the same you should be good.

Are there any physical ways to check compatibility? People who list them for sale do not list the circuit part numbers.

For example, my gauge pod has an oil pressure gauge on the tachometer. If I saw an oil pressure gauge on the tachometer on one for sale would it mean it would work for me?

One variable is the tach. A duke tack in a V6 engine will read 50% higher. A V6 tach in a duke will read 33% lower.

Doug - yes

I plan to use my own tachometer and speedometer. I need a new gauge cluster because the connection sockets on the back of my gauge cluster is coming apart. The socket for the C3 connector has all of the little copper fingers loose and they are touching each other and shorting out. This is causing all sorts of strange things with my gauges.

You can straighten and reattach the fingers with rubber cement or fingernail polish....

I tried super glue and made a mess of it. Also, two of them welded themselves together. I would rather just buy a new one.

I probably have one for you.

What is it worth to you?
