Left door window track problem - help please! (Page 1/1)

Hi everyone!

I need some help please. I’m replacing the dew wipes on my 88 SE.

The passenger door went just fine. Everything lined up and bolted/screwed in properly.

The driver door is a different story. Replacement went fine. However, I can’t get the track bolt holes to line up - even though I marked their positions. I can get three bolts in (not in marked positions) but not all four. Any ideas? It’s as if the track somehow got shorter.

YouTube videos have not been helpful in this regard.

I had a similar problem last summer when I replaced my dew wipes, both sides.

When the holes wouldn't line up, I pulsed the window switch up or down to make it move small amounts....just enough to line up the holes. Maybe that will work for you.

You guys are doing it the hard way. You don't need to do anything inside the door or to the glass to do the wipes.

Thank you - however, that horse has left the barn. What is the easy way? I followed a YouTube video, which closely matches the Service Manual's steps.

Fortunately, I found the problem. Somehow the upper bracket got bent in the process. Once I bent it back in place everything went back together without any serious challenges.

With any luck, I will not have to replace the outer or inner dew wipes again!
