Coilovers install issue (Page 1/1)

While installing Fieroguru coilovers on my 87 GT I encountered the issue he mentioned with the strut hat flip and bushing boss through the strut tower not lining up/fitting through the large hole. The passenger side was close so I just enlarged two holes in the tower slightly and it fits.

The driver side is almost a 1/2” off (80’s engineering haha) should I just drill new holes so I can get the bushing boss to fit?

The other question is the vent brackets won’t fit with the bushing boss through the strut tower. Any recommendations on this?

If I had to guess, probably the small holes are precisely located, while the centre hole is not.

Moving the top of the strut may affect camber by ~1 degree.

I would move the centre hole instead.

The vent holders will need to be cut to fit with the top hat flipped. Or you could just leave them off. The vents will still fit just fine without.

you got rid of the top spring perch altogether? and put new bolts through the strut mount? Doing research for my own coilovers and after seeing this considering doing the same

Search Fieroguru in The Mall or google. Paul has all the components to make your own other sells completely assembled coilovers.

Looks like I’ll need to modify the strut tower holes slightly
