New Wheel/Rims (Page 1/1)

I'm considering getting some larger wheels and rims for my 1985 Fiero SE. I currently have the 14's. I know some of you have put other wheels on your fieros, and I'd like to see some examples and know what you got!

15 years worth of custom wheels. I don't know why no one has posted since 2020 on this.

I went with 16 x 7 wheels front and rear. Tires are General G-Max AS-05 all-season tires; Size 205/55 front and 225/55 rear.

Those tire sizes were on several popular cars back in the 80 and 90s so there is a number of tires sold in those sizes. The General G-Max rates highly in testing at Tirerack, and is also a few pounds lighter than most other manufacturers.

The wheels I went with are VOXX Monzas....Love the look and they are light (Between 13 and 14 lbs) Sadly, they are no longer available.

Lightness is critical to performance and FEEL of the car. I dropped 3 lbs off each rear corner and 6 off each front- made a big difference in performance and feel- steering was better, ride better, and the tires stay on the ground more (Easier for shocks to control movement)

Also, realize that the C8 Vette weighs 3500, while our Fieros weigh approx' 2700, so that is a ratio of 1.3:1.....So my front 205 width tires would be comparable to 265 tires, while my rear 225 width tires are comparable to 295 tires. So don't go crazy on width (Equals weight equals club-footed feel)

I looked but couldn't find that thread, definitely needed a reboot.
