I got my car all ready today after doing a clutch & input shaft job, but now it wont stay in 1st. even if I disconnect the shifting cables and push it manually in, when I push the car back it goes back into neutral, but when I push the car forwards to doesnt pop out. None of the other gears do this, I went around the neighborhood and went thru all gears except for 1st, and they all work fine. If I try and keep it in first with my hand it just grinds. Right now Im using engine oil in the transmission. It didnt do this before I did the job.
I played around with it for a bit and it acts the same way as other gears do when they are half engaged, almost like first gear isnt engaging fully.[This message has been edited by Xenoblast (edited 04-12-2022).]

The clutch is not quite dis-engaged. Time to bleed it again..... [This message has been edited by Gall757 (edited 04-17-2022).]

Nope, turns out I needed to hit it into first softly from the transmission with a mallet and a screw driver, i guess the synchros werent all lined up. It still pops out sometimes, like maybe 10% of the time but thats good enough for me. Also my transmission started doing getrag rattle after only 150 miles with a new input shaft bearing, i guess it is unavoidable.

I think it's just internal tranny wear.
