Hello all,
I recently changed the transmission oil on my Fiero with a 4 speed Muncie I filled the oil via the VSS sensor and now my speedo is not working. I didn't know it at the time but I know now that the sensor attaches to a gear. Which didn't come up with the sensor when I pulled it off. I've driven the car a few times since the trans oil change.
Questions: 1. How can I check if the gear is still in place? 2. If the gear is found and reusable how do I install the sensor? 3. If the gear is not usable; Does anyone sell replacements and which one would I need? 4. If I can't recover the gear from the transmission will this cause problems?
Thank you all.
JM

I lost one in a tranny about 100,000 miles ago. When I changed the tranny oil some years later there were a few plastic bits in the oil.

Hello again..
My local junkyard had a fiero on hand and I was able to get a replacement sensor with a RED gear attached.
Any special instructions for installation?
Or does is just slip in?

Red was actually the correct one for my 86 GT 4 speed with 215s in the back.
