I was in the back, troubleshooting some of my coolant gauge issues when i noticed this wire was snapped off. Anyone know what it's for?

Dumb question but is it important? Or nothing to really worry about?

EGR, or Exhaust Gas Recirculation, is a feature designed to give cars better emissions and mileage. Having the system inactive shouldn’t cause harm to the engine, but it’ll hurt your fuel economy. That being said, that vacuum line being cut could cause poor idle. In my opinion, the bigger issue is the vacuum leak from that that line being cut, which will effect all your other vacuum systems (the biggest being vacuum advance which will cause poor timing at high RPMs). I’m not an expert, and people likely know more. But, it’s enough that I’d fix it.

It is very easy to fix and it is useful, but it should be noted that the Fiero does not have a vacuum advance......Even in the 1980s the computer was smart enough to do that job.
edit: If your SES light is not giving you a code 32, the EGR solenoid is probably fine.[This message has been edited by Gall757 (edited 05-12-2022).]

Thanks! I wasn’t sure about this specific motor. Without a vacuum advance or vacuum brake boost, the reasons to fix it aren’t immediate, but you do still want to fix it eventually.
