You can separate the knuckle from the tie rod and ball joint if it's an 84-87 model or the trailing and lateral links if it's an 88. You will also have to disconnect the emergency brake cable, and in the case of the 88, I think you would need to disconnect the rear sway bar from the knuckle, if so equipped. Be sure to save the axle nut washer. They are no longer available. A new nut is required. It usually comes with the axle. Install the wheel without its center cap, lower the car to the ground but do not let it roll.
