Removed the center console to remove some wires and found a light (comes on with parking lights) under the console about halfway back. Brown and black. About the same length as the orange wire (orange wire I assume is for the cigar lighter). Any idea what it is for or where is goes?

It is actually a light that plugs in the cigar lighter housing.

Oh. When you previously mentioned the cigar lighter, I thought you were already aware that there's a light mounted there.
It's probably easier just to remove the bulb that to bother "deleting" the wiring.

Yes, just remove the bulb and put the socket back into the lighter assembly. Also, remove the little bulbs underneath each ashtrays. These bulbs actually generate a good bit of heat, are of no use for illuminating anything you can see from a sitting position, and the heat causes the soft vinyl to buckle and turn loose.

If Bulb "socket" is there but bulb part shown in cave of lighter is missing then likely...
Part pulled off and missing. Maybe just hidden somewhere in console frame.
Lighter socket was replace and don't have.
Either case, pull bulb and "cap" with plastic scrap, heat shrink tube, etc, just to make sure can't short out.
OE Lighter "light" does nothing but make heat in most Fiero. Barely lights even if they work right. That light has to pass thru maybe 1/8" hole on lighter shell then the inner sections when they align right and very rarely does.
That and ashtrays lights often bounces light on the windshield and very annoying to many drivers.
Even light for AT shifter can be annoying even tho is on the dash dimmer.
Ashtrays and shifter lights often fail decades ago and many never notice.
