Replacement muffler V6 (Page 1/1)

My exhaust is rusted badly and has holes all over the place. I can't get a replacement exhaust here in the Netherlands (I missed out on a used one that was briefly for sale on a Dutch auction site), and having a complete exhaust shipped to me from the US, is probably very, very expensive.

The pipes I can temporarily fix with a filler (just to get through inspection) but the muffler is in too bad a shape to fix. So I was thinking of perhaps just buying the muffler in the States to replace the old one. It should be a helluvalot cheaper to ship too.

I've read many threads here on replacement mufflers, but all links seem to no longer exist.

But if I read correctly, this Muffler should be a direct fit for the Fiero:

Do I have other alternatives? Are there other mufflers that will fit the Fiero? I'll also post in The Mall for a stock (used) muffler, since I really like the stock sound of the Fiero.

IMO, any muffler that you fit in the OEM location will need to be a cross flow type no more than 13" long 3 1/2" W and have 2" connections for the pipes. A good exhaust shop should be able to weld connections to the existing exhaust pipes.
Here in the USA we have exhaust shops that bend and fabricate pipes to just about any application. They may be common in Europe.
The Flowtech Afterburner muffler that you reference is a size that will fit the area for the stock muffler. It may be a little tight but it will fit. (I've used it) . The problem is that the pipe sizes are much larger than the pipes used on the Fiero muffler. I guess that with some fabrication/welding a good shop can make it fit but IMO it will be difficult.
Spintech will fabricate a muffler for you with almost a precise fit. I would contact them. They have done them for my swaps and they have an exact size.

With aftermarket mufflers, something to consider is the piping between the muffler and the tips. The stock Fiero exhaust has a hanger bracket welded to those pipes. Aftermarket like the complete exhaust system sold by The Fiero Store requires a different hanger bracket. Be sure you have the correct bracket.
