86 Cradle Bushing Sleeves (Page 1/1)

anyone crazy enough to fab their own cradle bushing sleeves, or is there an off-the-shelf thing I can use for a new bushing sleeve, without having to purchase an actual bushing?

I have a replacement cradle, and one of the bushing sleeves has a rust hole in it the size of a quarter. The other is fine.

I -could- spend $17 plus shipping for a replacement, but that seems silly since I've got the total poly package to replace all of the bushings, and I'd just be destroying it for the sleeve.

What other bushings are the same size? I can't imagine this size is unique.

bumping up - are there any less expensive bushings to sacrifice? Or, a cheaper alternative to TFS?

How much of a cheaper price do you expect from a cradle bushing?

Install new front rubber bushings then Drive the car Before you trash them. You need to install w/ rubber so shell will go in w/o damage anyway.
Install polly only for back if has rubber now.

"Main issue" is huge rubber in rear cradle lets cradle move a lot.
With rubber front and polly rear the cradle doesn't move around.

I did just that because of time issues when replacing engine etc ~ 5 years ago and likely never going to install front polly again.
Side effect doesn't rattle your teeth crossing RR tracks as bad w/ all polly cradle set.

If I was going to be using them as-is, I'd be fine with it. I have poly bushings and ONE of the original bushings sleeves rusted out. I need them for the sleeve.

Since I'm going to destroy them anyway, I was hoping there was either a) a bushing that was close enough so that the shell would work fine, dimensionally, or b) the actual bushing, but not $17, since, again, the goal is only to use the sleeve.

Perhaps that's the direction I should go.

Currently, I'm trying to figure out the direction to go with this cradle.

The original tore when the OP yanked on it hard to tow the car out of the woods

I bought a replacement. The replacement is rusting out in the exact spot the original did. I didn't know it was damaged when I got it, until I was much further in.

I think it can be reinforced, but that fabrication is beyond my current skillset.
