88 GT- Tire size question with Enkei 17" wheels (Page 1/1)

Good morning

I just received a set of Enkei RPF1 17 x 8 +35 (rear) and Enkei RPF1 17 x 7.5 +48 (fronts)

My car is an 88 GT with Fierostore drop springs, otherwise stock suspension

I am more interested in ride quality than handling/performance.

Can some suggest tire sizes for these wheels that will fit and not rub on the fenders, but still have enough height that it is a comfortable ride? My previous wheels were very low profile (35 and 40 ) and was a very harsh ride.

I am thinking 245 55 17 for the rears, and 215 55 17 for the fronts.

Any photos of these sizes on a Fiero that can be shared would be appreciated, or pictures showing different suggested tire sizes on 17" staggered wheels ?

thanks

The stock tires on all Fiero years averages between 24.7 to 25 inches. If you go to the 245/55/17, you'll have a 27 inch tire which may affect your speedometer. Unfortunately you might be stuck with a lower profile tire and a slightly harsh ride.

I use 235/45-17s and 215/45-17s.

Be careful with your fronts, if your car is lowered. That width and offset may let the inside edge of the rim scrape on the back edge of the lower control arm, in tight turns. Or maybe not. Depends upon the car.
At the very least, I wouldn't use clip-on weights on the inside lip.

I agree that 55 profile will be too tall for a 17" tire. I've got 235 45 rear and 205 50 front, on 8" and 7" width wheels.
