Ac delete question (Page 1/1)

The AC in my 85 is junk and am going to remove the compressor. Is there anything I need to do electrically? Would still like the radiator fan to come on if the control switch is turned to AC. Thanks for the help !

L4 or v6? Not that it really matters. You going to do a real delete with the non ac air box? You going to pull the compressor? Honestly just disconnecting the belt is easiest.

Well.. the motor/cradle is out. AC hasn’t worked in years… basically just pulling the comp out…capping off the lines.

Just remove the ac belt. Then clean motor pulley and paint to prevent rust.

Saving a few pounds won't help MPG but "delete" the compressor leaves all plumbing open to air etc that makes sure rest of system is trash if you later find you what/need ac again. Plus often loose brackets etc and you can't get replacements easy now.

Motor is out of the car… why go thru the hassle of putting it back on it it’s trash. I have capped off the lines so they could be used later.

Years ago when I acquired my Formula which had been sitting for years, I pulled anything and everything that had to do with A/C off the car. A friend of mine wanted A/C for his Formula, so he was pretty happy. Anyway, I was glad to shed the weight of all this unwanted clutter.

And to address your question above... yes, the rad fan can still be made to come on with the A/C controls. No rewiring of any sort was required.
