Window controls and mysterious rollers (Page 1/1)

First question: I know dc power goes directly through the window up-down controls in the stock configuration. I've also seen diagrams and pictures of installing power relays controlled by the window up-down controls, thereby increasing window speed (by bypassing the increased resistance of an old, dirty control switch) and protecting the controls from the full current. As a half-way (no double entendre intended) measure, is there anything to be gained by cleaning the original 1988 control switches? Replacing?

Second question, not so much electrical: I remain mystified by the references to "rollers" inside the doors doing something for the window up-down motion. Every single archived or other post I've found on the topic has inactive image icons, even in the Cave. "As you see here . . " and there's a little inactive image icon. I see double plastic rollers resembling skate board rollers in some sources; and I've found wagon wheel shaped single white plastic discs inside my Fiero's passenger door. The latter being loose in the bottom space. I have a 1988 Fiero manual pdf file, but the black and white, very "busy" illustrations are hard for me to interpret.

When my backordered inside and outside dew wipes arrive and I have the doors' inner and maybe outer skins off I'd like to be ready in case whatever the real rollers look like I have some replacements to install. So, what do they look like and where to they go to do what? If a reply is a link to an earlier post with answers, great, but please check to see if the pictures are active.

As always, thank you!

1. RD sells/sold a relay kit but install near A-pillar not at the switches. Other found OEM relays in other cars and move them.
Cleaning or replacing the OE switches may help for some time but will fail as DC Power Eats the contacts. OEM relays could have same problem but many are easy to replace if still made. RD Claims his set is "better" because have more electronics to protect the relays.

2. See https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-8469-74430.aspx
I'm told can pop the stud off of new roller to fix old doors.
Old rollers can/will break because of old age and contaminates make them brittle.

I think Fiero uses 3 of them.
2 for the track to lift/lower the glass
1 in vertical track on the rear of inner door.

You see all easy as soon as remove the inner panel.
Not digging thru the barn to get a pic of a door. Not in archive drive can find right now.

Works Sim to https://www.dormanproducts....-133306-752-844.aspx for Subaru
long track attach to glass. short track attach to door.
