Rear turn signal support bracket help (Page 1/1)
Wichita JUL 10, 04:15 PM
I did myself a booboo and forgot to note/document this and need the community's help, so I will put the right bracket back on.

It's a 50/50 shot of me getting it right, but in my experience, if there is a 50/50 chance, 90% of the time I get it wrong.

So I removed these metal support brackets (riveted to the rear clip) that supports and holds the rear turn signals. They were a bit rusted and corroded, so I cleaned them up and painted them. I set them aside for quite awhile as I worked on other things with the Fiero. I decided that I need to put these back on, just to eliminate a few things off the restore list.

Now I don't remember which side is which and exactly how they were orientated. I do remember them being on the backside. Only one of these brackets has a stamped "N" on it, so I don't know if that means anything. But if someone sort of knows or has a rear clip that's been off and can take a picture or something, that would be awesome.

I looked through all the Fiero Body manuals, parts manuals and etc and nothing really shows this bracket or its rivet size. The closest was the Haynes manual showing this:

Does the bracket go in this orientation with the curved lip of the bracket down and out?

Also, if anyone knows the rivet size as a bonus, that would be awesome. I know I can do a quick trial and error on the rivet, but just wondering for documentation purposes if anyone knows off hand.

Many thanks,

Not sure but judging from the Haynes picture and the bracket shape I think the way you are holding it is upside-down. Look at the alignment of the holes beside the hole the harness passes through. For rivet size, buy an assortment from Home Depot and pick the one that fits snugly in the hole. For length, I would say 5/16”.

I can check tonight when I get home. I have the trim off getting ready for paint.

Yeah, I believe it may be more like this.

If I remember correctly, that one rolled edge fits perfectly around the edge of the panel so I believe that will help you find right-side-up.

This is when I had my rear clip off the car. I don't have a higher res photo but this is what the backside looked like for the rear marker.

Thank you. That helps big time. Now I know which is which.
