First post here, but have read through a bunch of posts on here trying to find the info I need.
Backstory - A friend and I started working on his 1985 GT probably 12 years ago. He wanted to do a swap for a 3.4L. He bought the block and had it machined. we started putting the pieces together when he got sick and passed away. I didn't go back to the car as it wasn't mine. A few years go by, and his wife wants the car gone and offers it to me. Of course I say yes, and take it. I didn't have the funds to deal with it at the time so it went and sat in a friends yard for a few more years. I finally have the funds and a limited amount of time (I have small children) to go back to it.
problem I'm having:
there is a 3.4L in it, but I don't know the firing order, or which is number one cylinder. I know this seems basic, but it's next to impossible to find some of this online. Also, I have no idea if I have the correct starter on it, or distributor.
Any help or advice would really be appreciated.
thanks

Sorry to hear about your friend.
It would be helpful if you mentioned which 3.4 this is... push rod version (like the original 2.8), or DOHC.

Thanks for that! I want to finish the car as a tribute.
it is not the DOHC, but I'm not entirely certain which vehicle the 3.4 came out of. I believe it was out of a 95 Camaro, but not certain. there are hardly any casting marks on the block, but I will see what I can find.

The 3.4 V6 (all versions of it) have the same firing order as the 2.8 V6 used in the Fiero. The numbering of the cylinders is also the same.

Best of luck with the project![This message has been edited by Blacktree (edited 07-22-2022).]
