84 Headlight motor freaking out (Page 1/1)

I drove my Fiero around this morning and had put the headlights back down only to come outside later and find a motor constantly spinning. Does anyone know the cause of this? Do I need to rebuild the motor due to internals being worn? The headlights still go up but when I have the battery connected the motor will constantly spin while down.

Motor is 38 years old and in need of a rebuild. First step is to pull the connector off of the motor so that the battery isn't drained. Then remove the motor disassemble it install the new gear bumpers, grease and reassemble. If the gear is stripped you'll need to replace that too. If the motor brushes are missing they can also be replaced. Rodney Dickman sells all the parts necessary for the rebuild and the instructions must be followed to the letter. A while back Buddy Craig made a few videos on the process. They can be found on You Tube.
