Does anyone know if disconnecting the relay on the passenger side headlamp motor will keep the battery from drawing down? I know the passenger side motor is bad. It won’t stop turning!

Unplugging the single wire will stop the motor from running.

If the motor is continuously spinning it means there is a stripped gear inside the headlight. The gear usually strips because the green shock absorbing bumpers inside the gear have turned to mush. Given the age of these motor, the failure rate of these bumpers is 100%.

If the motor is twitching it means the motor armature is not shifting axially enough to open the shut-off switch. You may hear clicking. The clicking is an internal circuit breaker that is cycling on and off.

I’ve stopped the motor from turning but the battery draws down and discharges!

How long does it take for the battery to completely discharge? The headlight motor will drain it completely overnight

I don’t know. It was discharged yesterday and I charged it overnight. My question is whether disconnecting the relay will stop it or how to disconnect the motor so it won’t happen again.

Unplug the single wire connector to the motor as sanderson231 suggested. That should solve the problem until you can repair the motor.

Did you stop the motor from turning by unplugging the single wire? If so, then go feel the knob on the other headlight motor and see if it is twitching. If it is, then the closed limit switch is not opening and the motor is being cycled on and off by the internal circuit breaker. This will drain the battery. Unplug that motor too.

There are other less likely possibilities but I'll wait to until I see your response.

What single wire connector? I don’t see any single wire connector! I only see the wire connectors to the relay and the wire connectors to the headlamp. I disconnected the wires to the relay but now the dome and interior lights are on and I can’t turn them off.

Both headlight motors have their own single wire power connector. It's right by each motor.

Remove and disconnect the light switch in the dash
