Neutral Safety switch won't come off (Page 1/1)

Hello PFF forum, I'm about to remove my NSS (neutral safety switch) from my automatic GT 85 to have it replace by a new one.
The car is in neutral, I removed the nut that holds the cable and removed the two bolts. All I have to do is pull up the switch but its hard to pull it off.
Is there something holding it?
Should the switch come out easy without applying force or do I need some kind of pry-bar to take it off?
I wouldn't like to break something.

Thanks very much guys for any kind of help.

Should be good to go, looks like just a lot of crud buildup on the switch's shaft.

Likely Rust etc are blocking to release it.

Nothing from GM to hold in on the shaft.

Carefully remove the old one and clean the shaft. Don't use strong chemicals, most oils and other things that could wreck the hidden shaft seal.

Is it OK if I use a prybar or a long flat screwdriver to give some leverage to remove the switch or could that break something under the switch.
I just want to play it safe and I don’t want to damage any transmission component by doing that.

Thanks guys. I’m going to give it a go.

OP died on the side of the road somewhere, unable to get the car to start...
