Quad-4 down (Page 1/2)

Hello everyone I built a quad-4 85 Fiero se some years ago and have done tons of mods. I blew a head gasket and found some cracks in the head and block of the 1990 low output quad-4. So now as I look for parts for the engine I’m faced with no parts and either selling the car or putting a more common engine in it. I have a 5 speed in it and was in process of installing a remote super charger. I thought the guys and gals here may be able to point me in the right direction for parts in any direction that is the most dependable drivetrain wise. I also have tons of knowledge building custom cars from modified stock stuff to repay the community. I built my own bump steer eliminating rear control arms, put hiem ends in place of the rubber bushings in the front lower control arms, I run an ecm from a turbo sunbird and made my own wiring harness from the 1990 grand am weaving it into the Fiero. I tune it and burn chips, run code 59 and a moates chip burner. I also have lots of parts I’m not using and probably need to sell to fund a swap. It would break my heart to just give up on it after all the labor I’ve put in but I can’t be spending thousands on getting it back on the road. I have a lead on a sc 3800 car but it’s an auto trans. I just can’t find exactly what I need searching the garbage heap internet so thought I’d ask y’all. Thanks for reading and for any help 😁

I have a spare Quad 4 HO that I would be willing to sell. Email me if interested. I live near New Braunfels in Central Texas.

quad fours are cool little engines, I see them all the time at local you pull it lots, but parts quality is questionable. I don't have much to offer other than that. I hope you keep the car a quad four, just because it sticks out a bit compared to a 3800, and it sounds like you have a bunch of work in it.

I invited Lou Dias to trash me in my own thread, he refused. sorry. if he trashes your thread going after me. I tried.

I haunt those pull it yards but cars that old r getting rare. I found 2 Fiero’s,a gt and a newer one with the round bumpers at one close but I can’t really use anything from a stock one anymore 🤦‍♂️ And yeah I’d like to just fix it and put the supercharger I have on it. Makes good power and lots of room under hood

Great to see another Quad swap!

I'd love to see more about how you did your wiring harness, exhaust and control arms/tie rods.

Is that an original Rayne bump steer correction lower control arm?

Quad-4 was a cool engine, but it's been obsolete for a long time.

A 3900 would be a bit heavier, but give you 240hp out of the box.

Ecotec - either NA or turbo!

Some parts are getting harder to find but hard to call an engine that makes 180-190 hp from 2.3L N/A obsolete. Plus there's the fun factor. When a Quad 4 hits 4000 rpm it feels like a turbo kicking in.
